Social Entrepreneur and Founder of The IDHouse. Chicagoan disguised as a Londoner.

Alyssa is a human rights activist, global story teller, and blogger from Chicago, Illinois. She is the founder and executive director of The IDHouse, which works to engage young people in sustainable development and activism. She has written about subjects ranging from extremism/radicalisation, Islamic State, Boko Haram, al-Shabaab, jihadi brides, women's rights, gendercide, political violence, gender identity, sexual violence, the crisis in the Middle East, the Arab Spring, Muslim identity, power-based personal violence, democracy in the Middle East, and freedom of religion. She has worked as Director of Advocacy for International Women's Initiative, and alongside the Central Asian Development Team at the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association in London. She holds a MA in Human Rights from Kingston University in London, and a BA in Sociology from the University of Missouri. In her free time, you can find her dousing her food in ranch dressing, following Bon Iver's tour around the world, blogging about travel, and budget-traveling around Europe.
