Benjamin Bland

Writer & Historian

Benjamin is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at Royal Holloway, University of London. He is also a member of the Labour Party, a film and music obsessive, and a keen cricket follower.

His academic interests centre around extreme politics and culture in post-war Britain and Europe. This has led him to work on topics including the UK National Front, the fiction of J. G. Ballard, and the cinema of Pier Paolo Pasolini.

Having identified as a Labour supporter (albeit a frequently exasperated one) since his schooldays, Benjamin is an avid follower of British politics. He considers himself on the 'soft left' of the Labour Party and is also a member of the Fabian Society.

He has been active as a music web journalist for over half a decade, primarily writing for Drowned in Sound and Stereoboard.
