Brian Rockliffe

Director of International Citizen Service – a UK government funded development programme for 18-25 year olds

Since working as a volunteer in Tanzania (1974-78) for global development charity, Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), Brian has occupied leadership roles right across the VSO’s work. He has championed the role of youth in development is currently Director of International Citizen Service (ICS), a UK government funded development programme that brings together 18-25 year olds to fight poverty and make a difference in overseas and UK communities. ICS is led by VSO in partnership with Restless Development, Raleigh International, International Service, Tearfund and Progressio.

Brian has previously been Director of VSO Sierra Leone/Liberia, VSO Canada and VSO UK. His passion has been to develop programmes which enable volunteers from the global South to participate fully in VSO’s programmes and he played a key role in the development of VSO Jitolee (Kenya), VSO Bahaginan (The Philippines) and in VSO’s National Volunteering programmes.
