Catherine Gazzoli

CEO of Slow Food UK

Catherine Gazzoli is an internationally minded
woman with a UK focused mission. With her Italian
heritage, a passion for food runs through her veins.
A keen cook herself and with an international
background, Catherine is well placed to lead the UK
Slow Food movement which is making headway in
150 countries around the world.

Born in Geneva, Switzerland and educated in New
York City at the United Nations School, she
continued her higher education at the University of
California at Berkeley and then completed two
Masters in Rome.

Gazzoli has worked on sustainability livelihood and development projects with the
United Nations, and in Australia, on micro-credit for Aboriginal communities. This
background in sustainable development compounded with her innate passion for
food and lengthy membership of the Slow Food movement, naturally led Gazzoli to
Slow Food UK.

Catherine re-launched Slow Food UK at Highgrove with HRH The Prince of Wales
and has since been named by Channel 4’s 4Food as one of “Britain’s most inspiring
foodie ladies.” She has an enviable network of some of Britain’s best chefs behind
her, supporting Slow Food’s ethos. With her limitless energy and determination to
improve attitude and awareness of good food in the UK, watch this space as Slow
Food is just around the corner.

Britain has a rich, strong food culture, running beneath the radar and under constant
attack from supermarkets and ready-made meals. In this vein, Slow Food UK could
be a focal point for efforts to safeguard cherished, but endangered, regional foods
and food traditions…Slow Food UK's rebirth is as practical as it is ideological.
The Ecologist

Gazzoli is an energetic, charismatic person who has the drive to recruit some
younger members and move Slow Food into becoming something more professional
and more muscular.
