When we open this topic up for discussion, a common refrain is to suggest that we want good actors on screen. The implication is that we don't want trans people to be employed to play a trans character just because they're trans. We want a good actor to do the job.

I'm already a massive fan of Theatre Peckham and have worked with them this year to carry out some research into what it is that young people value most about participating in drama, theatre and performance.

I'm interested in the ways that <em>Pronoun</em> might be activating shifts in participants/ audiences in relation to understandings of transgender young people's identities. The play is often described is a love story.

Last week, Goldsmiths (University of London) added the option of 'Mx' as a title or honorific when making an enquiry, applying for a course or registering as a student. I thought it was a good move.

Bullying can take many forms and when young trans people tell us that they feel consistently frightened and anxious about what their fellow students and teacher might say or do we know there is more work to be done.

If a person attending a single-sex girls school identifies as a transgender boy and wants their teachers and peers to treat them as the boy they feel themselves to be, what happens? What's their experience like, as they try to learn and achieve and create a future for themselves?
