Cathy Rentzenbrink

Project Director at Quick Reads

Cathy has a keen passion for literature and books and took over as Project Director at Quick Reads in April 2012. Cathy has personal experience of the importance of engaging readers as her father was functionally illiterate until he was in his thirties and is now a passionate and voracious reader whose life was demonstrably improved by learning to read. Cathy, who has always worked within the books industry, was at Waterstones for ten years and flew through the ranks in a variety of roles that all centred around spreading the joy of books and reading. After leaving the company as Publisher Liaison Manager she then started her role at Quick Reads.

Cathy's little boy Matthew is three and his first three word sentence was 'Mummy read book' clearly showing her love for reading and books.

Cathy is a member of the World Book Night steering committee, led the Waterstones involvement with the Evening Standard Get London Reading campaign, worked on the Waterstones partnership with The Reading Agency and has worked as a volunteer with Volunteer Reading Help. She therefore has front line experience of engaging reluctant readers with books. Cathy¹s role at Quick Reads takes up three days of each week, she spends the other two as the New Fiction Previewer for the trade magazine The Bookseller.
