Retired GOG

The link below was for some reason not posted on the Huffington Blog site feel free to comment if you feel it is in any way offensive.

Now retired and living in a very remote area of Wales. Currently I only have the one Bloodhound although that will be changing shortly. Love learning about pretty much anything although Dogs I find absolutely fascinating. I look forward to any constructive and inspiring argument and debate through this my blog and hope to occasionally entertain you all.
Race To The

Race To The Bottom?

Having read this back to myself, yes, I see the contradictions, but I'll forgive myself, as the chaos that was this General Election has left better minds than my own equally befuddled.

Kill Or

Kill Or Cure

It's time to deal with the cause, NOT the effect, and that way I feel sure in my uneducated way, that most cancers can be eradicated, rather than having to find a cure for something we have created!

Going for walks with Max and Billie was always an experience and one never knew whether we would be going for a long walk, or a very long walk combined with search and rescue operations at the end of it.

The fact is my intelligence, or lack of, has not changed one jot. I have always had to try to educate myself in other ways and have found I have a very broad spread of knowledge in many subjects. I'm sure that I am no more, or less intelligent than any of my friends with one or two glaring exceptions.

Well by the time this gets posted the 2015 Election will be over. Thank goodness! The last time I voted was over 30 years ago. Many on social media accuse me of wasting my vote. Politicians accuse me of betraying those who died fighting two world wars to give me the right to vote...

Christopher Salmon PCC for Powys

Christopher Salmon PCC for Powys Constabulary

When I joined all those years back I was sure that the UK Police should be unarmed. Now I can hear the cogs whirring. Ah, but now having been shot and had colleagues and friends lose their lives, you have now changed your mind! Actually no.

Social Media What a Strange

Social Media What a Strange Beast.

Some are very relaxed and comfortable with their religious stance and are equally happy to befriend an atheist such as myself. I regularly espouse on my timeline my disdain for religion, but can of course separate the religion from the person.

Are We Still a Super

Are We Still a Super Power?

If we are then what are the benefits for us as a people of this Superpower? We are told that we benefit from trade deals here and there. But what is the reality? Are we as a population kidding ourselves that we are still a world power? Or is it more of an egotistical and superior belief that we are better than others who are not 'world powers'?

Hidden in Plain Sight Two

I know this article is going to sound emotive, and I make no apologies for that as when I believe in something, it tends to be all or nothing.

Well I have just taken delivery of a wheelchair on a temporary basis as I have had an ankle ligament repair and arthroscopy to my ankle, so no weight bearing for 2 months. I have just spent 20 minutes in the garden in said wheelchair that has just been delivered, and wow what an experience.

NHS National Homage

NHS National Homage Society?

Is this what the NHS has become? Are we expected to bow down and pay homage to the mighty NHS and show our gratitude? I don't think we should.

Too Many

Too Many Cattle?

Today a report was released saying essentially that greenhouse gasses are increasing due to having too many cattle. I think this is tosh. What do you think?

Are You a Charity

Are You a Charity Sheep?

What is happening at the moment is almost a massed sheep like behaviour. Okay yes it is highlighting a terrible disease and raising funds. But ask yourself who is behind this and if you could follow it back to its source you would find a very clever advertising executive.

Raw Fed

Raw Fed Dogs

I remember the first time my mum gave our Border collie some ground up, well, something. It was in the late sixties and I believe, roughly when dogs (and I guess cats) were first given 'kibble', as we know it today. I think the main reason was convenience, no more smelly empty cans of dog food, far less heavy when going shopping etc, etc.

Hydro-Electricity! Wind Turbines! Why

Hydro-Electricity! Wind Turbines! Why Not?

In addition to these local effects, natural gas extraction has global environmental consequences, because the methane gas that is accessed through extraction and the carbon dioxide released during methane burning are both greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change. New fracking technologies allow for the extraction of more gas, thus contributing more to climate change than previous natural gas extraction."

Joe Ellis and His Battle for Life Giving

Joe Ellis and His Battle for Life Giving Drugs

I have recently become aware of a brave 13 year old, young man called Joe Ellis. He has a form of cancer called primary mediastinum large B cell lymphoma, which he was diagnosed with in 2013. Joe's family along with doctors have been looking at the best options for treatment and have found a new drug from the US called 'Brintuximab'.
