Teacher

I am currently the Geography teacher at Joseph Chamberlain College and was formerly the Subject Leader for A level Geology and Archaeology at Worcester Sixth Form College. I have a passion for teaching and promoting my subjects to a wider audience. I led the charge to save A level Archaeology when AQA decided to stop the course last year and was invited to present my views on education in the UK today.

A Level Archaeology: Down But Certainly Not Out

So, while the future may not be as bright for the subject as we would have hoped, we certainly won't be disheartened over the next year and hopefully we can convince more people to take this subject at university as we say our final goodbyes.

Archaeology Is A Subject That Teaches Us What It Is To Be Human - Scrapping The A-Level Is Devastating

When I first heard archaeology was to be scrapped at A-Level I was not only surprised, but devastated. This is a subject that teaches our students about what it is to be human. We learn about the material culture left by our ancestors from all over the world. We discuss the concepts of culture, politics, art, identity and we do so with an open mind. Even after several years of teaching the A-Level I still find new material that keeps me in awe.
