Dr. Steven P. McCulloch

Steven is Senior Lecturer in Human-Animal Studies at the Centre for Animal Welfare, University of Winchester. He is Programme Leader for the BA Animal Welfare and Society. Steven qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2002 from Bristol University and holds a BA Philosophy from Birbeck College, London University. He has a PhD from the RVC, London for his thesis ‘The British animal health and welfare policy process: accounting for the interests of sentient species’. Steven is a diplomat of ECAWBM and a recognised veterinary specialist in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law. Steven has expertise in the multidisciplinary fields of human-animal studies and animal welfare science, ethics and law. Specifically, he has expertise in the ethics of the human-animal interaction and how the interests of sentient animals are accounted for in British government policy. Steven has published on diverse issues in human-animal studies and animal welfare science, ethics and law.
