Elizabeth Wade

Director of Policy Pharmacy Voice - representing community pharmacy providers in England

Elizabeth Wade joined Pharmacy Voice - an association of trade bodies representing community pharmacy providers - as their first Director of Policy in February 2014, and leads the organisation’s policy research, analysis and influencing activities.

Elizabeth has a background in health service management, research and policy, with particular experience and expertise in primary care development and commissioning.

Before joining Pharmacy Voice she was the Deputy Director of Policy at the NHS Confederation where she led a team of policy, public affairs and membership staff and oversaw the delivery of major work programmes such as the 2015 Challenge campaign. She had previously held roles at the Confederation as Head of Commissioning Policy and Senior Policy Manager for the Primary Care Trust Network, and was instrumental in the establishment of a new membership body for CCGs - NHS Clinical Commissioners (NHSCC).

Prior to her work at the NHS Confederation Elizabeth was a Senior Fellow at the Health Services Management Centre at the University of Birmingham, where she led the Centre’s teaching, research and policy engagement work on health and social care commissioning. In this role Elizabeth was the co-designer and director of the UK’s first MSc in Public Service Commissioning and was responsible for delivering several large teaching and research contracts for organisations including local authorities and PCTs, the NHS Institute, the National Leadership and Innovation Agency for Healthcare in Wales and the Department of Health.

Elizabeth started her career as an NHS national graduate management trainee and then held a number of roles in health improvement, primary care development and commissioning within the NHS, including Head of Primary Care Commissioning for a London PCT.
