Emmet Oliver

Financial journalist; Chief spokesman, IDA Ireland

Emmet Oliver is one of Ireland's most experienced financial journalists and writers, having covered the European debt crisis since 2008, in print and on radio. He witnessed bank runs at Northern Rock first hand while working in the UK with Bloomberg, and subsequently covered the IMF/EU rescue of Ireland while a writer and editor at The Irish Independent and Sunday Tribune. He was also a contributor to Ireland's talk station, NewsTalk 106 on these stories. He has also worked from Brussels, covering key European summits as the fates of Greece and Portugal were decided.

He is currently the chief spokesman for IDA, Ireland's foreign investment agency, which works with over 500 US corporates, who directly employ over 106,000 employees.
