Evan Milton

Head of Digital Strategy for Ogilvy Cape Town & Music Journalist

Evan Milton has been a music journalist since 1996, writing weekly columns for the “Cape Argus” newspaper, for “Rolling Stone SA” (R.I.P.) and with an ongoing eye to insinuating decent arts and culture coverage into other mainstream titles. He presents a weekly FM radio show, “Homeground Advantage” focused on South African jazz (Thursday 10pm to midnight on 101.3fm in Cape Town or streaming from fmr.co.za).  By day, he’s head of digital strategy for Ogilvy Cape Town, but nights are devoted to music. He’s an event MC and panelist (Music Industry Exchange, Social Media Week (Lagos), Oppikoppi, Cape Town World Music Festival, Winston Mankunku Ngozi ‘Saxophone Summit’, Breathe Sunshine Music Conference, Red Bull Music Academy (London)) and has written for Suitcase Magazine, Red Bulletin, Dazed & Confused (UK), Business Day ‘Wanted’ and others. His first book is “Theatre on The Bay: 25 Years”, and he still believes music can change the world. Especially when it’s jazz.
