Fleur Missaghian (MA BA Hons PGCE) is a dramatist, writer and singer from South Wales, UK. Fleur has lived in the islands of Scotland, China and Germany and is now back in the Valleys of South Wales. She is a Carer for her husband Ramin, who has Multiple Sclerosis. They have two beautiful black and white cats who are sisters, called Cassie and Xixi. Fleur and Ramin are members of the international Baha'i community (www.bahai.org) and is interested in community-building, equality of the sexes and nutrition.
Being married to your Carer must be really annoying. But, I never give up on my husband, I believe in his capacity to progress and develop, even if there are times when he doesn't believe in himself.
So yes, I do have a friend who I feel very close to, but I also have another bunch of friends who I love dearly - so how can I say just one person is my 'best' friend when all friendships are different, irreplaceable, wonderful and unlike any other?

Every time I saw a baby photo or cute kids photo/video it hurt my heart. I found myself involuntarily comparing my life to the person's life - especially the mother - and for a moment I just felt bad about the path my life has taken.

Because of his particular journey with MS (the experiences can be very different) Ramin has been slowed down by an illness that took away his independence for a long time. Relapse-free, he is now in the slow but steady fight to recover and he gets frustrated with himself, with me and his body, his mind.

I want to challenge that phrase 'A childless couple', It assumes Ramin and I, and others like us, are missing out. We live in a time when the quest for possessions, status and fame is well and truly up there with the quest for enlightenment.
