Frauke Galia

Certified aromatherapist, smell coach, and founder of FALK Aromatherapy

Frauke Galia (Frow-kah Gah-le-ah) is a Fifth Sense Ambassador, Smell Coach, Certified Aromatherapist and founder of FALK Aromatherapy, an online resource for harnessing your sense of smell for well-being and joy. Frauke is often referred to as “the smell lady” because of her deep passion for connecting people with their sense of smell. She believes that smelling is a privilege and that society undervalues this beautiful and critical sense. Her philosophy encourages a mindful connection with smelling for both health and well-being. Frauke currently serves as ambassador for the non-profit U.K. organization Fifth Sense, a charity focused on supporting those with smell and taste disorders. It is her mission, as a person with “smell-ability,” to bring more awareness and compassion for people with anosmia, those affected by the inability to smell. Her aim is to bring closer those who have the privilege to smell with those who are unable to smell. Because, through perspective, we can all learn from each other. Frauke has spent more than 20 years in and around the fragrance industry, engaging people with scent. She worked with globally recognized brands like Johnson’s baby, Clean & Clear, Axe, Suave, Degree and Neutrogena, where she recognized early on the power of scent and the personal connections fragrances create. And as a trained and certified professional aromatherapist, she aims is to educate and empower people to engage with their sense of smell and to use essential oils in a safe and supportive manner for personal wellbeing. Frauke offers workshops, lectures and courses on aromatherapy, as well as provides a 21-Day Jump-Start Smell Training program for those who’ve lost their sense of smell and want to make smell training a habit. She’s also recently launched a podcast called An Aromatic Life, which aims to shed light on our sense of smell and increase its profile in a culture dominated by sight and sound. Every week she explores this beautiful sense from different angles, including science, art, literature, movies, health, and much more. The podcast is available to listen to on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Frauke has also created an artistic passion project called Scent*Tattoo, a project about connecting humans through scent, specifically scent memories. Each of us has a unique life story and scent is distinctly qualified to tell that story. Stories are memories and smells evoke our most emotional memories.
