Gideon Summerfield

Artist

I am currently studying for a degree in Illustration at Cardiff School of Art and Design.

In my personal time I am progressing a portrait project with Holocaust Survivors. It’s been a privilege to meet such extraordinary people.

In June I completed my A levels in Fine Art and Graphic Design, at Hampstead Fine Arts College, London NW3 and in the summer I really enjoyed working as an intern for ‘Dutch Uncle’ – an agency which represents some of the best illustrators in the UK and around the world.

Through 2012 I completed an ambitious project called ‘Sketch a Day’. The idea was to draw someone who was in the news for all 366 days in the year. To do this for an entire year was quite a challenge, but it was a great way to develop my portrait technique and to learn about what was going on the world. The 366th drawing was completed on the BBC Breakfast programme on December 31 2012.
