Greg Whyte

Former Olympian, world-renowned sports scientist and Comic Relief’s celebrity trainer since 2006

Greg is a Professor in Applied Sport and Exercise Science at Liverpool John Moores University and a UK authority on Exercise Physiology, Sports Performance and Rehabilitation. He has extensive professional experience assessing, treating and improving the performance of athletes and sporting enthusiasts ranging from celebrities attempting their first mountain summit to Gold medal seeking Olympians.
Greg is well-known for his involvement in Comic Relief. He has trained, motivated and successfully coached David Walliams to swim across the English Channel and along the River Thames; John Bishop’s Week of Hell from Paris to London; James Cracknell to run, cycle and swim to Africa; Cheryl Cole, Chris Moyles and Gary Barlow, among others, to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro; Eddie Izzard to run a remarkable 43 Marathons in 51 days and most recently, helped Mel C, Dara O'Briain and others to raft 110k down the Zambezi river.
So far challenges that Greg has been involved with have raised over £17 million for Comic Relief and Sport Relief projects and has recently been rewarded an OBE for his services to sport, sport science and charity.
