Israel Butler

Researcher and analyst on human rights and EU affairs

Israel Butler is Senior Policy Officer at the Open Society European Policy Institute in Brussels where he specialises in EU policy on human rights, justice and home affairs. Prior to that, he was a Seconded National Expert with the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights where he worked as a researcher and speech writer. He holds a doctorate from the University of Nottingham in the area of International Law, and began his career in academia as a lecturer at Lancaster University covering EU Law and Human Rights Law.
