Professor of Arabic
James Dickins studied Arabic and Turkish at Cambridge before working for two years as an English teacher in a secondary school in Sudan. He did a PhD in general and Arabic linguistics, and has subsequently worked teaching Arabic and Arabic/English translation at Heriot-Watt, Durham, Salford and Leeds Universities. His does academic research on linguistic theory, Arabic language and linguistics and Arabic/English translation.
