Jan Tregelles

Jan Tregelles has been chief executive of Mencap since 2013, and has spent her entire career supporting people with a learning disability. She has become one of the UK's leading voices on the issues affecting people with a learning disability and their families.
Jan joined the charity in 1983 where she acted as PA to one of the then directors. She then left to pursue a career in housing when in 1997 Mencap asked her to set up Golden Lane Housing, which exists to create greater housing opportunities for those with a learning disability. Since rejoining Mencap, Jan has held various posts including the director of personal support since 2002 and can talk with a wealth of experience about how Mencap supports people with a learning disability.
