Jeff Stelling

Sky Sports presenter of Soccer Saturday and UEFA Champions League

Jeff Stelling is one of the UK’s best known football broadcasters – the star of Sky’s Soccer Saturday for more than 20 years. At the helm of Sky Sports top-rated weekly programme, Jeff, with his panel of pundits, keeps fans across the country on the edge of their seats every Saturday for six hours of football coverage, without ever showing a live match – a format that shouldn’t work , but is phenomenally successful.

Jeff started his broadcast career on Radio Tees, covering football at his home ground of Hartlepool United – the club he’s remained loyal to since watching his first match there at the age of seven. There followed sports presenting on LBC and BBC Radio 2, before his first TV appearances on TV-am, Channel 4 and Eurosport. But it is at Soccer Saturday that his reputation for a meticulous grasp of football stats and encyclopaedic knowledge of players and clubs, has endeared him to an army of loyal viewers and his peers.

Away from football, Jeff proved a popular host of Channel 4’s Countdown, where he quickly became known as the ‘housewives choice’. After three years he left to concentrate on his football role at Sky. A five times winner of the Sports Broadcaster of the year award, in 2015 Jeff was made President of his beloved Hartlepool United. He lives in Hampshire with his wife, three children and two dogs.
