Joe leads Nesta Impact Investments, a £25m early stage investment fund for innovative social ventures in the fields of ageing, young people and sustainability. Joe joined Nesta in 2010 to lead its overall work on social venturing and impact investment. Joe is a board member of Bethnal Green Ventures, the leading accelerator programme for technology based social ventures, on the Advisory Council of the Impact Investing Policy Collaborative.
Joe has been active in impact investing since 2005, previously as a senior manager at CAF Venturesome. He was a Clore Social Fellow in 2010, and began his career with the TeachFirst programme teaching in a secondary school in the London Borough of Hackney.
