John Francome

John Francome MBE is a former National Hunt Champion Jockey, television pundit and author

JOHN FRANCOME is a National Hunt Champion Jockey but he has also made a success in the world of broadcasting and publishing as a commentator and novelist.

John has been connected to horse racing since he was 16, competing as a jockey for over fifteen years and fortunate enough to ride over one thousand winners. He rode for the best trainers in the country, in particular, the legendary Fred Winter at Lambourn, with whom he became Champion Jockey seven times.

After retiring, Francome was awarded an MBE in 1986 for services to racing. He was a trainer for 18 months before becoming a TV presenter for Channel 4's horse racing broadcasts.

Francome has taken to writing works of fiction. His electrifying racing thrillers have won him legions of fans and put him on the bestsellers list. John Francome's previous novels include Deadly Finish, Final Breath, Dark Horse, Free Fall and Stalking Horse.
