Working to end female genital cutting
Julia spent 15 years in the corporate sector and not for profit sectors, then volunteered in Cambodia and in Ethiopia. It was in Ethiopia that she came across female genital cutting (FGC) firsthand and wanted to understand more.
In 2010, she won a competition through YouTube to take an urgent cause to Davos and was part of a panel dedicated to discussing how to end FGC. She subsequently set up Orchid Project, a charity dedicated to a vision of a world free from female genital cutting.
Orchid Project is based in London and partners, communicates and advocates for an end to FGC.
