Kate Clanchy is a writer, teacher and journalist. She’s the recipient of several awards for her writing. Clanchy was awarded a Forward Prize for her poetry collection Slattern, her short story ‘The Not-Dead and the Saved’ won both the 2009 BBC National Short Story Award and the VS Pritchett Memorial Prize, and her novel Meeting the English was shortlisted for the Costa Prize. Clanchy’s BBC Radio 3 programme about her work with students (We Are Writing About Home), was shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award. In 2018, an anthology of her students’ work, England: Poems from a School, was published to great acclaim and in the same year she was awarded an MBE for services to literature.
