Laura Wood

Mental health campaigner

Laura writes, speaks, and advocates for better maternal mental health care, having become acutely unwell after the traumatic birth of her son in 2014. She is now a lived experience champion for the Maternal Mental Health Alliance’s ‘Everyone’s Business’ campaign and will soon be co-chairing her local Maternity Voices Partnership. She’s also currently working on a project with Mind and the McPin Foundation, looking at maternal mental health peer support. In her other life, she is an early career researcher in medieval history and enjoys wearing brooches, stomping about with headphones on, bullet journalling, and pretending with her son that the floor is lava.
