Lauren Pitt, 24, is supporting Scope and Virgin Media’s Work With Me campaign aiming to highlight and tackle the barriers faced by disabled people applying for jobs.
Lauren is registered blind after a genetic condition caused her to lose most of her sight aged 13.
After graduating from university in 2015 with a 2.1 degree in theology, Lauren had to apply for more than 250 jobs after disclosing her visual impairment on her CV. She was eventually offered a job as an administrator for a social enterprise.
Lauren wants to change employers’ attitudes so they stop focusing on someone’s impairment and understand the advantages disabled employees with the right support can bring.
