Leah Jewett

OUTSPOKEN Sex Ed for Parents co-founder

Leah Jewett, who grew up in 1960s San Francisco and went to Barnard College/Columbia University in New York, is a freelance writer and editor. After 19 years at the Guardian/Observer, she has gone down the route of relationships and sex education (RSE), focusing on parental engagement, consent, pleasure and the impact of porn. She is currently working-group lead on RSE for the Women’s Equality Party, co-leader of its Camden branch and parent liaison on PSHE for the UCL Academy.  Leah is driven by an interest in empowering girls/women and the obvious flip side of getting boys/men to open up, and in making inroads into changing children’s mindsets, changing our culture.    Married to the Englishman she met while she was working in film journalism in Paris, Leah has a pre-teen daughter and teenage son. She swims through the winter at the Ladies’ Pond on London’s Hampstead Heath.
