Lynne McDonald

Programme Manager – Distribution System Operator (DSO) Readiness

Lynne joined UK Power Networks in September 2010 and has over six years utilities experience, delivering new technical, commercial and customer experience innovations within a collaborative culture to advance the infrastructure business in its successful response to customer needs and the UK’s low carbon agenda.

Lynne holds a MEng degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde. She was named Engineer of the Year in the Women in Construction Awards 2016.

Lynne is responsible for overseeing the strategic change programme to transition the business to a Distribution System Operator (DSO).

Other responsibilities include leading the Electricity Networks Associations (ENA) DSO Definition and Roadmap in collaboration with industry. She is also Company Lead at the Power Networks Demonstration Centre forum, Network and Demand Side Management and Technical Lead at the International Utility Working Group where electricity utilities serving the world's major urban areas share best practices.

Previously Lynne was Project Lead for community energy project, energywise, after successfully leading the bid to secure the innovation funds. The project explores how to help fuel poor customers benefit from the low carbon transition. Moreover, Lynne led a team that registered a programme of innovative projects to advance the condition and failure management of electricity distribution assets.
