Mary Rance is Chief Executive Officer at Contact the Elderly.

Although originally trained as a lawyer, Mary has a strong background of working with trade associations and charities. Her experience includes a period as director at the CBI, chief executive at the charity Toc H and a spell of five years at UKinbound as chief executive.

Mary is now leading Contact the Elderly, the only national charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation in older people.

The charity:
• Provides a personal link to eradicate the loneliness of older people who live alone, with little or no support from family or friends
• Organise free monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties in the homes of volunteers
• Has a dedicated team of over 7,700 volunteers supporting almost 600 groups across the UK
• Received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award in 2013 in recognition of their role in providing a regular lifeline of support for thousands of isolated older people nationwide
• Celebrates its golden jubilee year in 2015 following 50 years of constant support to lonely older people
