Maurice Michaels came to the rabbinate later in life following a successful career in industry. In both careers he has concerned himself with people and their rights and responsibilities. This is why his major interests as a Rabbi have been in education, interfaith activities and international human rights. As a patron of Waging Peace he has lobbied and written about the conflict in Sudan. He currently teaches Practical Rabbinics at Leo Baeck College, utilising his knowledge and techniques of leadership and management to provide final year rabbinic students with the skills to survive congregational life. He is also involved with two counselling services and acts as Jewish chaplain and/or advisor to several hospitals, hospices, colleges and airports.
