Maya Esslemont

Writing on modern slavery and immigration detention. Occasionally ranting about ethical food and fashion.

Maya Esslemont is a freelance writer specialising in human rights, development and modern slavery. She is currently following the work of several human trafficking NGOs in Vietnam, exploring the role of different agencies in recognising and rehabilitating victims. In 2014, she founded the Once Project, the UK's first dedicated programme supporting immigration detention volunteers to recognise the signs of human trafficking and torture.
