CEO of the budgeting app, Squirrel

Mutaz Qubbaj, CEO and co-founder of Squirrel, a budgeting app used by nearly 4000 Brits, is a Palestinian Jordanian, and is one of four brothers to have attended MIT, setting an international record for siblings enrolling at the institution on scholarship.

Having attained a degree in Computer Science in 2000, he spent several years developing leading edge tech at MIT's Media Lab, and subsequently joined an internet strategy consulting start-up (ZEFER).

Subsequently, Mutaz has had a financial career that spans more than a decade at Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse and PIMCO as a trader, a published strategist, a global lecturer and marketer within the fixed income space.

After several years in the corporate world, and having obtained a Masters in Finance from LBS, Mutaz set out to find a solution to the epidemic of extortionate payday loans and overdrafts. He's out to make financial freedom simple for those that need it the most!

Mutaz has been profiled by WIRED as one of the '15 to look out for in 2015', and has pitched for wins for Squirrel at the WIRED 2014 Startup and Pitch@Palace competitions, the latter of which is presided over by HRH the Duke of York.
