Nigel Cannings

Nigel Cannings started off as a lawyer after his entrepreneur father told him to “Go and get a proper job”. He worked at various City law firms, before moving in-house, working exclusively for IT companies. He finally saw the light in late 2004, and left the law to follow his dream of being an entrepreneur like his father. He has perhaps succeeded in the former without having yet been successful enough to have achieved the latter. When it’s your Dad who started the Byte Shop and sold the first ever “PC” in Europe back in 1978, that is a tough act to follow. Nigel started a number of small technology companies and invested in some early stage tech start-ups. One of these, which he also founded, became Intelligent Voice, specialising in turning phone calls into meaningful text, mainly for the legal and financial compliance industries.
