Ex City Trader turned slightly older, discerning, sometimes perfectionist Mummy to two gorgeous, mischievous little boys.
I am/was a 'high-flying' City trader
Once a 'high-flying' City trader (still working, just flying a little lower of my own free will!) I started writing an anonymous blog having found out after a gruelling second round of IVF that I was pregnant. Having spent just over 15 years, straight out of university, working in the City as an Equity Trader, living life minute by minute in a high-pressure, aggressive, male-dominated environment ,as well as being (comes with a job) an accomplished party animal, my life has changed. For the first time in my life I don't need to be on the trading floor by 6.30am. So, I decided to start writing a blog. I now write about the luxury lifestyle that I covet; from food to fashion, home to travel. Find me at www.pregnantcitygirl.com
The Park Hotel Cala di Lepre in Capo d'Orso really does offer the full package and is a real fave for me. On the North East coast of Sardinia, gorgeous views over the Costa Smeralda, this 4* hotel is another of my top picks as a family option.
Modern, two or three bedrooms and the same in bathrooms; beautifully simple but luxurious and kept spotlessly clean by the team that even built a stair-gate just for us, pre-arrival, without batting an eyelid.
We are heading home from Sardinia. Seven days of bliss. It went in a flash. A testament to where we were. For the first trip in ages I relaxed from the outset. I normally take a day or two to acclimatise, the critic in me finds little niggles that I need to let go off before settling in.
I've got a secret to tell. Only to a few of you, not to everyone. I don't want everyone knowing this and making it impossible to book but I do want some recognition for finding the best thing since sliced bread for families! They don't advertise in the UK, so most are in the dark about what really is on offer for summer mountain holidays with children - especially very young ones
Many people expect Sardinia to be a carbon copy of mainland Italy - wrong! I'm a lover of and frequenter of both places but don't confuse the two whatever you do! Taking my family there for a third year running I thought it might be nice to let others know what really sets Sardinia apart in my eyes.
Family hotels need to exist more throughout Europe but until they do, I suggest doing your research well, sticking to the ones with the facilities and getting some well-earned relaxation and fun all round. This is even more important for the skiers where you simply can't be in two places at once.
If you want to ski and have young children, you'd better head to Austria. This is where they understand how to offer top notch childcare in luxurious hotels in an all-inclusive way, which is a godsend. You could pay alone in childcare what a whole holiday might cost.
We're staying at The Pier in Harwich. Great not only for its seafood but for its proximity to lots to do and see - you can literally pick oysters up on the beach around the corner if you so desired or drive the twenty minutes to Frinton
Always smiling and wiling to help - I half expected grumpy staff at high season with kids everywhere! This is truly a family paradise. We will definitely return. I don't think anything else will come close for now
So, I finally made it to Club Med. during the most momentous week in recent British history we made our Brexit to Marrakech. I almost feel like I've made a joke in poor taste, such is the panic back at home.
As you may have gathered, I am a bit obsessed with Sardinia of late. This may have something to do with my choosing it last year as a holiday destination and then deciding to go back again this year with our new fourth family member - baby Gabriel (no angel, believe you me - he sleeps far too little for that!).
I looked and looked for somewhere on or near a beach with a pool, not as far as Cornwall and with great reviews and facilities for kids. Not easy as it goes. I'm a very difficult customer and look for super-high standards. I don't want to compromise on anything; we need good food, luxurious rooms, great service plus all of the above.
