This seems to be a common misconception about the culture at SpaceX -- one even I had before I worked there. The thing is, no one, especially not Elon, is forcing you to work long hours. SpaceX just hires self-driven people who are extremely passionate about the mission. Long hours is just usually what it takes to get the job done, especially if you're working with limited resources.

The lower you set the bar for what it means to have a successful career and successful family, the better you'll feel. The better you feel about your performance, the better worker and parent you will actually be. My recommendation: set the bar at keeping your family relatively healthy and happy and doing the job you're being paid for at work.

Growing up alongside such dramatic innovations is like growing up in another world, a world with its own language, customs, and practices. Technology and innovation are a second language for them. A language designed for ease of use. A language of efficiency. You don't necessarily have to learn the language, you just have to give them the freedom to speak it.

I work with employers and managers to help them better understand their own role in guiding their employees to success. This is the question that sums up my entire job. "What are people really struggling with and failing to address?"

Buy a beautiful, brand new notebook. On the very first crisp, clean, blank page, write out your story. Take an objective look. Is it sad? Is it angry? Are you unlucky? Does it blame everyone else? Are you a victim? Do you have a sense of agency or do things seem to happen to you?

Research the company generally. Know the basic stats on size and state of the company, and try to develop a view on the top 3 strengths and the top 3 weaknesses/issues the company faces. If you can think through and be prepared to articulate how you can reinforce the strengths and help make progress against the issues, then even better.

My husband and I were very happily married, and are presently very happily separated. Many of the ingredients are the same - respect, compassion, shared concerns, shared values, strong communication, and empathy.

We all enter intimate relationships with family of origin traits, aspects of your inner self that are developed as a result of your upbringing and personality traits, your core approach to living in the world. Some of these traits are solidified, meaning they most likely won't change and some traits are malleable, meaning they can be modified.

I can answer this question as both a psychologist and a person who has had lifelong social anxiety. I never enjoyed making small talk, but I have come to learn the great value that beginning conversations with strangers can have in your life and I no longer avoid striking up conversations.

A person who takes her time to notice, to gather information, and then speaks up when she has something insightful to contribute is often the person with influence. Rather than trying to do what someone else does, rather than falling prey to pressure that comes from a false sense of inadequacy, build upon the person you already are.

The show version has made me very uncomfortable any time she comes onto the screen, but I see that as the showrunner's unwillingness to probe the ambiguities of Daenerys Targaryen. However, they did start off trying to make her into a fully realized character, but made their own changes. The results have not always worked for viewers.

As with so many other things -- it's the economy. You used to need your own car to do almost anything, but no longer, thanks to innovations in goods and services. And, cars cost a lot of money in a time when money is harder to come by and doesn't go as far as it used to go. That's all there is to it.
