Rob Law, 36 years old, MBE is the founder and director of Magmatic ltd, the company which creates the instantly recognisable children’s brand Trunki. Trunki launched in May 2006 and has since been followed by a range of additional children’s products.

Rob’s inspiration came from the simple observation that children get bored during journeys, particularly at airports. He initially thought of the Trunki concept while studying a BA (Hons) in Industrial Design, and appeared on Dragon’s Den in 2006 – only to walk away penniless, with no backing from the potential investors. Despite this he persevered and, just after 6 years after its official launch, over 1.4 million units have been sold.

All of the Trunki creations are designed in England and distributed worldwide, and Law was awarded an MBE on New Year’s Day 2011 for Services to Business.
