Sam Thompson

National DJ and male survivor of rape

Sam Thompson, aka ‘Bassduckfresh’, is a UK based multi-genre DJ known on the bar and club scene for his exceptional ability to read the crowd and tailor his sets accordingly. His sets reflect Sam’s own versatile music tastes which he showcases through a number of genres; House, Disco, Bass, Grime, Hip-Hop, R&B and Drum & Bass. His love of music is evidenced in his sets and his professional approach to DJing evidenced in the number of bar/club gigs, festivals and events nationwide. Since taking lessons from Happy Hardcore legend, Audiojunkie, aged 13, Sam has devoted thousands of hours to finding tracks that develop his sets to a unique level that his fan base has become accustomed to. At his first ‘professional’ performance, aged 14, Sam took to the desks and began developing his own style which was lapped up by the crowds and resulted in many more bookings. At 16, Sam took the alias ‘BassDuck’ and established a solid reputation as a reliable touring DJ and having found a gap in the market for joint Sixth-Form parties, developed and ran a series of successful events on the Newark bar and club scene, including Atrium and The Corn Exchange. His first company ‘BassDuck Ltd’, began showcasing a wide range of local DJs, Singers and Bands, which often gave them their first opportunity to play in front of an audience. By the time he had turned 18 he was touring the East Midlands / Nottinghamshire area performing sets and took his first residency in the bar, Atrium. As ‘BassDuck’ grew and ‘BassDuck Ltd’ promoted more events, Sam took the decision to rename the music and events promotion business to ‘DuckFresh’ to avoid confusion and took ‘Bassduckfresh’ as his main performing alias. Sam expanded ‘DuckFresh’ to offer DJ lessons, equipment hire, event promotion, an online radio station and consultancy to new venues; and started to produce small one off festivals, particularly as charity fundraisers. By 21, Sam’s performing alias, ‘Bassduckfresh’ had made guest appearances in Nottingham, Lincoln, Norwich and Newcastle; and shortly after joined Manchester based Maximum Music UK. ‘Bassduckfresh’ has performed throughout Manchester’s bar and clubland, as well the iconic GMEX centre (now called ‘Manchester Central’) in front of over 1500 people. More recently, Sam completed 48 hours of non-stop DJing over Internet Radio in aid of Survivors Manchester and provided a short cover period in Sidari, Corfu. Sam is now back touring around the UK and is available for bookings.
