Sara Faithfull

Professor in Cancer Nursing and researcher in cancer survivorship, University of Surrey,

Sara Faithfull works in Health Sciences at the University of Surrey. she trained as a cancer nurse in 1986 at the Royal Marsden Hospital (UK) and worked within Oncology in several fields: radiotherapy, urology and men's health. She was a CRUK Nursing Research Fellow and has received several CRUK, NIHR and Macmillan grants researching how best to support cancer patients who experience chronic symptoms as a consequence of cancer and its treatment. Her PhD study was completed in 2000 at the Institute of Cancer Research in Academic Radiotherapy and was on "Supportive care in radiotherapy evaluating the potential contribution of nurses". Sara's current work funded by Prostate Cancer UK and Movember is about lifestyle change and self management after prostate cancer treatment asking whether diet and lifestyle interventions can influence quality of life, reduce chronic symptoms and potentially reduce the risks for other chronic diseases as a result of cancer treatment.
