Sean King

CEO of Seven

After leaving Warwick University armed with a degree in Psychology, Sean now has over 20 years’ experience in content. He started his working life as a journalist, spending the first eight years of his career rising from a reporter on Menswear magazine (Emap) to section editor on Broadcast magazine, and finally as editor of the weekly market-leader Video Home Entertainment (VHE).

It was while editing VHE that Sean decided to do his own thing and in 1993 went into partnership with fellow journalist Peter Dean. Together, they set up Square One Group, soon becoming the fastest-growing independent content agency in the UK. In 2007, Square One was acquired by Seven, creating a leading player in the market, with Sean installed as CEO.

An active member of the marketing community, Sean is a council member of the Content Marketing Association, formerly the Association of Publishing Agencies, of which he was previously chairman. He is also a member of The Marketing Society and a member of Executive Committee of BIMA (the British Interactive Marketing Association).
