Ru’s latest comment that Peppermint was only allowed to compete because “she hadn’t really transitioned“ is insulting and hurtful

I sincerely hope that, if not quashed by legal action, the Australian postal vote gives the Government a clear indication that Australians want marriage equality enacted immediately and it isn't delayed further.

Omar Mateen walked into a gay nightclub and opened fire on the patrons inside there. His actions, whether you want to admit it or not, are homophobic and anti-LGBT in their scope... We won't allow this to be reduced to a terrorist attack against 'the wider community' because it wasn't.

The fact that four completely volunteer funded and non-profit organisations are doing the job of the State in providing advice, counselling, medical care and financial assistance for women's reproductive health is nothing less than a bloody disgrace; this has to end before we have another Savita Halappanavar.

Last night when debating equal marriage someone asked on Facebook "What is it that the LGBT don't have?" So I decided to put together a comprehensive little list for those who are 'getting tired of all this equality sh*t' as they have put it.

The Opposition that doesn't Oppose is not something to aspire to. If Labour hadn't permanently destroyed any chance of recapturing those left wing votes they have lost to the SNP in Scotland or to the Greens and Plaid Cymru in England and Wales before the election then they have assured that outcome tonight.

I pay my taxes because one day it might happen to me again. Mhairi Black didn't just speak for the people in her constituency that voted SNP or even within Scotland, she spoke for the thousands of us who know what it is like to feel the sting in the tail of a Government without heart.

It took a long time for me to realise, with the help of counsellors at the Rainbow Project and Lifeline (two fantastic resources that I was able to use to save my own life) that I am loved, I am valued and I am as deserving of happiness as anyone else. But it has to start with accepting yourself first.

Yes Friday is a good day to be gay and a good day for the American people but we cannot forget that we have a long way to go. Let's take this victory and carry on with a renewed vigour to make the rest of the world better too.

I've grown tired of pretending that austerity is nothing more than pulling our socks up and tightening our belts. People are starving, homeless, falling through the cracks of society and dying. Pulling our socks up? Spare me.

Can you imagine, as a white gay man reading this, walking up to a woman of colour in a nightclub or even in the street and clicking our fingers and snapping 'Hey gurrl!' as if we are somehow part of the same post-colonial expression of feminist power?

It has taken me a long time to come to terms with the truth that I am pro Choice and I am unashamedly so. I was always afraid to say it because of the nature of NI's deeply conservative society and how it would reflect on my character.

I'm a little angry and here's why: in 2014 and every year before that I have read story after story about young LGBT people taking their own lives, being locked up, turned out onto the streets and made homeless, fired from their jobs, being hospitalised, murdered.
