I was a caddie on the European Golf Tour, before training to be a psychiatric nurse, qualifying in 1995, working in older peoples' mental health services before moving into service improvement roles locally, regionally and then nationally as knowledge manager for National Institute for Mental Health in England and subsequently the National Mental Health Development Unit.
