Founder and Chairman of Contact the Elderly

Trevor Lyttleton MBE MA LLM (Cantab) is Founder and Chairman of Contact the Elderly. a Solicitor, Campaigner for the rights of the Elderly and Copyright owners. He is also a Composer of over 200 works performed worldwide with a Broadway Grammy nomination to his credit.

Trevor Lyttleton specialized over many years as a Solicitor in commercial, music copyright, media and elderly client law and acted as Panel Deputy and in Court of Protection matters. Trevor Lyttleton’s longstanding experience in handling challenging elderly client cases has been supplemented by a unique understanding of the issues facing the elderly acquired during his 49 years as Founder and Chairman of the National Charity, Contact the Elderly.

Since Trevor Lyttleton started the Charity in 1965 under his leadership:

• Contact the Elderly has focused compassionately on providing a vital personal link to eradicate the loneliness of older people who live alone, with little or no support from family or friends.
• Contact the Elderly has organised free monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties in the homes of volunteers creating over a million life-enhancing individual events alleviating the loneliness of older guests.
• Contact the Elderly now has a dedicated team of almost 7000 volunteers currently renew its simple act of friendship at 600 tea parties each month nationwide.
• Contact the Elderly became John Lewis Charity of the Year in 2009.
• Contact the Elderly received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award in 2013 in recognition of Contact the Elderly’s role as the only national charity that has focussed solely on combatting loneliness since its inception, and for providing a regular lifeline of support for thousands of isolated older people nationwide.
• Contact the Elderly will launch its Golden Jubilee 'IF NOT NOW, WHEN?' Campaign in 2015 to encourage volunteers to help reach out to more of the one million elderly off the radar of family or social care support.
