Supporter of Breast Cancer Haven

As Eleanor Roosevelt said “A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it's in hot water”. In 2014, when I was 32 this theory was put to the test when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

After treatment I returned to my job as a Development Manager at Waitrose and supported a number of breast cancer charities, spending a five month sabbatical at one of them, Breast Cancer Haven, where I worked on projects joining the two ventures together. I also made time for doing the things that I love including travelling to exciting new places and walking in the countryside with my husband. I even managed to combine my three loves when I walked across the Sahara desert with my husband for charity.

Three years later, I found myself in hot water once more when I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer.

I am sure the water temperature will vary over the upcoming months for me, as there is currently not a cure for secondary breast cancer, but with the support of my husband, family and friends I am determined to retain my smile, humour and strength throughout.

I started writing my blog www.victoriainwonderland1981.blogspot.co.uk to connect with friends and family at home and abroad and to convey my story, my way.
