Yinka Bokinni

Radio and TV presenter, and founder of Sistem magazine

A South London native with a law degree, Yinka’s love for music lead her to pursue other dreams and she successfully landed herself the presenting role on Rinse FM’s Breakfast Show in 2015. With her infectious energy, Yinka built up a loyal fan base at Rinse and in 2016, secured a prime role presenting a daily show on one of the UK’s biggest radio stations, Capital XTRA. Yinka’s popularity and distinctive voice lead her on to delivering the stations evening show and after three years has proved hugely popular with listeners and made a big impact on the UK’s leading hip-hop, grim and R&B station. This lead to her securing her dream slot, the weekday breakfast show. Not shy on-screen, Yinka hosted the MOBO awards nominations event in 2017 and went on to cover online and backstage at the main show. In April 2018, Yinka teamed up with Diet Coke & Refinery 29 for a new series “A Diet Coke Break With..” which flips the script on hot topics. Yinka also co-hosted the live red carpet coverage of the BIFA awards in December 2018 alongside Jim Chapman and started 2019 with a bang, as one of the main presenters on 4Music’s Fresh programmes. She may be aiming high but Yinka’s feet are firmly on the ground, giving a Ted Talk entitled “The Myth Of Escaping The Ghetto” in 2017. The talk reached audiences of thousands and received glowing reviews. Yinka continued to build her reputation as an engaging speaker and hosted a stage at AfroRepublic 2018. She also runs her eponymous blog featuring everything from music & culture to lifestyle, fashion & beauty. Yinka has since delved into the world of factual film making; fronting her first two documentaries in 2018, commissioned by Anglia Ruskin University; Love, Lies & Nudes which takes a look at the murky world of “revenge porn” and Music Is The Answer which explored the relationship between music and mental health. Also a DJ, playing at Capital XTRA events such as Brunch ’n’ Beats and Reloaded Live, Yinka has festivals such as LoveBox, Hideout and hosting the Wireless Festival 2018 & 2019 Main-stage under her belt. She closed the 2017 World Championship Athletics and has DJ’d for brands such as Boohoo, Revlon, Axel Arigato, eBay & MTV. She has hosted & DJ’d for the Casa Bacardi events in Croydon & Leeds. If that wasn’t enough, Yinka has dipped into the modeling world a little; featuring in campaigns for Cat Footwear, Converse and L’Oreal. Yinka has recently been featured as a rising star in Hello magazine and Fabulous magazine.
