Yousra Elbagir was born in Khartoum, Sudan and spent her life moving between her hometown and the UK. While studying Social Anthropology at the University of St Andrews she nurtured her love for journalism and debate, leading to her involvement in TEDxUniversityofStAndrews and local student publications.
Having grown up under a dictatorship in a family of journalists and publishers, freedom of the media has always been a heartfelt concern. Fluent in English and Arabic and currently freelancing in Khartoum, she hopes to be a part of the movement putting a developing world perspective into the forefront of international media.
