Hollywood; the place were dreams are made supposedly but what is the truth of the harm it causes and the deaths it so carelessly shrugs off in the pages of a tabloid?
Mental illness and drug abuse has seen many deaths in the last two years.
The death of a young and loved glee star(Cory Monteith) and the recent saddening suicide of Robin Williams, one of the most talented actors and beneath all that stardom, a lovely caring human being.
Another point to mention is the pressure Hollywood puts onto innocent young girls and boys.
Images of beauty and money, nice cars and flawless houses, the pressure on young people was clearly seen in my latest study when I asked five Girls and five Boys, the shocking truth is 9 out of 10 said they felt depressed by the pressure they felt from Hollywood culture.
My personal battle with Body Dysmorphic Disorder was somewhat caused by the unbearable hideous world that is Hollywood.
Now tell me what matters; the happiness of humans or the plastic success that is Hollywood?
My friend Rebecca Sweeney talks about her opinions on this matter..
"As far as I am aware only 1 major celebrity in the younger generation has spoken out about mental illness- that person being Demi Lovato.
I can honestly say I may not have been here or would still be suffering from an eating disorder if it was not for her bravery of speaking out.
On one particular night, lying on the floor browsing TV channels I came across an MTV documentary "Demi Lovato: Stay Strong".
It made me realise that I wasn't alone and that maybe it can be normal to suffer from these things.
It gave me the courage to speak up and seek the help I needed.
Demi has not only helped me but many others who have also been inspired to speak out by this brave individual who has a mental illness and who also has a major media platform to spread awareness and to try and eliminate the stigma attached to mental health as much as possible.
If more people/celebrities started standing up, telling their stories and fighting against the stigma then many more lives would be saved and everyone would realise that it is a major thing that a lot more people than you'd think suffer from".
The shocking truth of this cruel world that is Hollywood makes us all realise that happiness beats this world hands down.
Until this world addresses this problem that we have with our society, it should hold it's head in shame.
