Five Romantic Gestures That Your Man Will Actually Appreciate

Romance shouldn't be only reserved for the ladies. Men need to be wined and dined too, only their idea of romance generally tends to look a little different than rose petals on the bed. Here are five romantic gestures that will sweep the man in your life off his feet.

Romance shouldn't be only reserved for the ladies. Men need to be wined and dined too, only their idea of romance generally tends to look a little different than rose petals on the bed. Here are five romantic gestures that will sweep the man in your life off his feet.

1. Play With Him

Literally. Pick up a basketball, golf club or video game console and gear up for some romantic competition. While it might seem silly to you, playing and having fun with your man can actually strengthen your bond. Men are naturally attracted to women who aren't afraid to be playful and fun loving. Plus, it will mean a lot to him to have you attempt an activity he enjoys, even if it's just for a few hours.

2. Plan a "Man Date"

A romantic date night doesn't have to mean fancy clothes and a fancy five star menu you need a dictionary to understand. While there is nothing wrong with an extravagant night out, chances are your man would appreciate a more low-key evening. Surprise him with a "man friendly" date night and take him to his favourite bar or greasy spoon for dinner, and order anything he wants. From there, you can take your date back home to watch a movie of his choosing, or if you're an overachiever, try to get tickets to his favourite band or sports event. If that doesn't work out, you can always hit up the bowling alley, arcade or even play lazer tag. It all depends on what your guy enjoys doing!

3. Keep It Flirty

Instead of sending the same old "What do you want for dinner tonight?" text messages to your man during the workday, shake things up a bit! Sending a sexy text message out of the blue will grab his attention and he likely won't be able to stop thinking about you all day. You can also slip a naughty note into his pocket or send him a saucy email on your lunch break. You can be as sexy or sweet as you'd like, as long as your message is a lot hotter than "I'll be home at seven, can you defrost some chicken?"

4. Compliment Him

I think we can all agree that men give many more compliments than they receive, so isn't it time for us ladies to return the favour? I'd be willing to guess that your guy does a lot for you on a daily basis, but maybe your appreciation isn't always verbalised. The key is in what you choose to praise him on and your delivery. You want to always be genuine when giving a compliment, and also highlight something that is more than just appearance based. For example, telling him how much you appreciate that he always makes sure your car has a full tank of gas and giving him a big kiss is much more meaningful than awkwardly telling him you like his shirt.

5. Show Off In the Kitchen

No, don't cook for your man because it's something a woman is supposed to do-that's silly. Cook for your man because he likes it, no other reasons necessary. Preparing a meal for the guy in your life, out of love not out of obligation, is inherently romantic, and he won't take it for granted, especially if you're someone who counts popping a frozen lasagna in the oven as cooking. Guilty. Surprise him with your take on his favourite dinner, and he'll be putty in your hands.
