A Reminder That Women Of All Sizes Are 'Allowed To Feel Sexy'

๐Ÿ™Œ

In a world where weโ€™re bombarded with digitally edited images of the โ€œperfectโ€ body, it can be hard to maintain any body confidence, let alone feel sexy.

But a blogger has issued a powerful reminder that women of all shapes and sizes can and do feel attractive. If youโ€™re not quite there yet, you can be.

โ€œNow this may be hard for some some of you to understand, but guess what, I like the way I look when I look in the mirror,โ€ Sonny Turner began her Instagram post.

โ€œYes I have rolls. Yes I have stretch marks. Yes I am โ€˜fatโ€™. And yes, I think I look great. And you should too.

โ€œWe live in a world that is scared of โ€˜fatnessโ€™ and is fat phobic. Itโ€™s like, so cause Iโ€™m fat Iโ€™m not allowed to feel sexy? Iโ€™m not allowed to think Iโ€™m beautiful? Iโ€™m not allowed to feel good? NOPE.โ€

In the post thatโ€™s been liked more than 19,000 times, Sonny went on to point out that people of โ€œall body typesโ€ deserve to feel attractive.

โ€œFYI fats are allowed to think theyโ€™re attractive. And thatโ€™s the same for any body type in fact,โ€ she said.

โ€œGirls with no butt and boobs are allowed to think theyโ€™re beautiful too.โ€

She acknowledged the journey to self-love isnโ€™t always easy, considering the societal pressure we feel under to look a certain way.

โ€œI know that itโ€™s hard to love yourself and be yourself in this world we currently live in. Weโ€™re constantly presented with flawless images of beautiful people, luxury lifestyles and all,โ€ she said.

โ€œI canโ€™t help but question, how tangible is it all? One day all of that wonโ€™t matter. What will matter is the memories we made with the people we love and the mark we left on the world.โ€

She ended the post by saying if she leaves โ€œeven any mark on the worldโ€ she wants it to be that sheโ€™s โ€œencouraged people to want to be themselvesโ€.

โ€œTo make others feel confident for who they really are. To normalise all the things that are seen as โ€˜uglyโ€™,โ€ she said.

โ€œWell Iโ€™m โ€˜fatโ€™ and fabulous. Or โ€˜thickโ€™, or what ever coined term you people like to call me to make me feel less guilty about my chub. Whatever category you wanna put me in, I still look great.โ€

Sonny, we couldnโ€™t have said it better ourselves.
