If there’s one thing Piers Morgan hates (although that’s not exactly a short list), it’s so-called “snowflakes” – so we can only imagine how incredulous he was after being branded one by Ant and Dec.

The pair couldn’t resist making the quip after the Good Morning Britain presenter was riled by a joke they made about him during the launch of this year’s I’m A Celebrity on Sunday night.

Dec had said: “We’ve got Kate Garraway, who’s preparing to face the most harrowing ordeal of her entire life…”

Ant added: “But before she goes back to work with Piers Morgan, she’s got three weeks in the jungle!”

Piers reacted to the gag on Monday’s GMB, sarcastically saying of Ant’s return to the show: “It’s so good to have him back.”

Later responding to him on Twitter, the pair called him a “snowflake” for being so easily outraged – something Piers usually criticises others for.

Things went downhill from there as they began trading playground insults.

“At least I have my own Twitter account & don’t have to share one with my mate,” Piers wrote.

Ant and Dec replied: “Oh yeah? Well our dads are bigger than your dad. Grow up you big wally!”

Piers fired back: “a) They’re not. b) I really wouldn’t play the growth card.”

The trio previously worked together when Piers was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent from 2007 to 2011.

However, Piers was a vocal critic of Ant during his personal troubles last year, when he decided to take time out of the spotlight, following his arrest for drink driving.

Piers claimed Ant was no longer “the guy he knew”, before later commenting that he did not “deserve sympathy” following his subsequent conviction.

I’m A Celebrity airs nightly at 9pm on ITV, with Good Morning Britain airing weekdays at 6am on ITV.
