After months of teasing us, Apple’s brand new is streaming service is finally here.

While Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon’s new series The Morning Show has been at the centre of most of the conversation, there will also be new projects from Oprah Winfrey, Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer and a new biopic of Emily Dickinson starring Hailee Steinfeld.

Before it launches officially, here is everything we can tell you about Apple TV+...

What is Apple TV+?

Apple TV+ is the new subscription streaming service belonging to (believe it or not) Apple.

It’s being touted as a rival to existing platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, and will boast hours of hours of high quality, original content for subscribers to watch on demand at a monthly cost.

At a launch event back in March 2019, it was described as “the new home for the world’s most creative storytellers featuring exclusive original shows, movies and documentaries”.

When will Apple TV+ be released?

1 November 2019.

Will Apple TV+ be available in the UK?

Apple said its new streaming service will be available in more than 100 countries, which includes the UK.

How much will Apple TV+ cost?

Apple TV+ will cost £4.99 a month, marking it cheaper than its direct competitors. Amazon Prime is available at a cost of £7.99 a month and Netflix at £6.99 a month.

However, Apple is also offering a free year of Apple TV+ to those who buy a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac or iPod touch after 10 September.

Forthcoming streaming service BritBox – the collaboration between the BBC and ITV, which has already launched in the US – will be available through the Apple TV app in the States, but it has been confirmed they will remain separate in the UK.

As part of the update, the Apple TV app should now be available on Mac and on smart TVs including Samsung, LG and Sony, as well as Roku and Fire TV streaming sticks.

What shows will be on Apple TV+?

Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell are leading a huge list of A-list names who are helping to launch Apple TV+.

The trio will appear in a new drama series about the world of breakfast TV in the US called The Morning Show.

Speaking at the March’s Apple Event, Reese said: “In The Morning Show, we pull back the curtain on the power dynamics between men and women in the high-stakes world of morning news shows. It’s a real insider’s view into the lives of the people who help America wake up every day.”

Jennifer added: “Through the prism of those under-slept, over-adrenalized people behind and in front of the camera, we take an honest look at the complex relationships between women and men in the workplace and we engage in the conversation people are a little too afraid to have unless they’re behind closed doors.”

Aquaman actor Jason Momoa will team up with actress Alfre Woodard on a project called See, while Oprah Winfrey will work on documentaries and a new book club for Apple TV+.

Other big names in Hollywood will collaborate with the streaming service, including Steven Spielberg (which is interesting given his own criticisms of Netflix in the past).

He will join M Night Shyamalan, Ron Howard, and JJ Abrams in showcasing his work on the platform.

There will also be original shows for children, with a new friend of Sesame Street favourite Big Bird called Cody, whose aim is to teach youngsters about coding.
